  • Students took the Chapter 9 test.  Absent students are NOT to take the test from home.  They will take the test upon their return.

  • The chapter 7 test was yesterday.  Any student absent on Wednesday needs to make up the test ASAP.

Wednesday 12/12 Shield Day Schedule
  • All students should have completed JTF 7.2.  Check for the stamps.  
  • We also finished "Lewis and Clark: Great Journey West" and the video questions sheet.
  • If any student had trouble finding any of the answers to the L+C video questions there is a PDF answer key located to your left under the subscribe button.  The numbering is a little off on the back but most of the questions are the same.  The last two questions on the blue sheet are not on the answer key but students should be able to answer them on their own.

  • We also completed "Hail to the Chief" and vid quiz
  • Students were given the Chapter 6 study guide to start work on.  There is a PDF of the Ch. 6 Study Guide to your left under the "subscribe" button.  For true/false questions: students need to know why the question is true or false.  The T/F questions might be worded differently on the actual test.
  • Progress reports were passed out for periods 1,3, and 4.  6th period was also given replacement progress reports since yesterday's were not accurate. 
 
 
 
Monday 12/3
  • We discussed the first part of JTF 6.4
  • Students watched the first segment of "Hail to the Chief: Presidential Elections".  There is a video quiz for this.
  •  PROGRESS REPORTS WERE NOT SENT OUT FOR 1ST 3RD AND 4TH today due to a server being down. These will go out tomorrow ASAP.
  • Annnnnd the reports I sent out for 6th period are not accurate.  More technical difficulties.  I will pass out correct reports for 6th Period Tuesday.

  • BONUS:  Here is a link to a Mike Rowe clip from a couple of years ago called "You Don't Know Mike".  It covers 9/11, baseball, family, friends, and fate.  The subjects of this story, Mike and Bob, are Bakersfield guys.  I went to high school with them and they are friends of mine.  I would consider this appropriate for just about anyone but could be seen as PG rated to others.  It is an amazing story and well worth the watch.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLKuXjLB8HI

Friday 9/7
  • All students should have turned in the Chapter 2 packet.
  • All students took the Chapter 2 test.
  • Students who finished the test with extra time should have read the first two sections of Chapter 3 (p.78-85).  If this was not done in class it needs to be done over the weekend.  
 
 
 
Thursday 9/6
  • Students had to finish and turn in the Protest Poster before the end of the first half of the period.
  • All students were given the chapter 2 test Study Guide to work on.  If this was not completed in class it needs to be completed at home...and studied!  The Study Guide does not need to be stamped.

Wednesday 9/5
  • Students, in groups, worked on their Protest Poster Project.   
 
 
 
Tuesday 9/4
  • We finished discussing JTF 2.5
  • We started on the Protest Poster Project.  All of the work on this will be done in class.
  • 7th and 8th period students need to do the Boston Massacre/Tea Party graphic organizer sheet for HOMEWORK.  This should take less than 10 minutes.  I will stamp this sheet at the beginning of the period on Wednesday.
 
 
Friday 8/31
  • We discussed the next part of JTF 2.5
  • We completed the "Causes" video and video quiz
  • Students also should have completed the Boston Massacre/Tea Party graphic organizer sheet.  Check for the stamps.
 
 
Thursday 8/30
  • We discussed the first part of JTF 2.5
  • We watched the first part of "Causes of the Revolution".  There is a video quiz that the students will fill out as they watch.  Video quizzes do NOT have to be stamped.
 
Wednesday 8/29...I was out today
  • All students should have completed the Just the Facts 2.5 sheet with the substitute.  Check for the stamps in the upper right corner.

  • We discussed the answers to the "Rebels" video.

Friday 8/24
  • We first completed the "Rebels" video and video question sheet.  We will discuss the answers to this on Monday if there were any unanswered questions.
  • All students should have completed JTF 2.4, front and back.  Check for star stamps in the upper right corner. (Note:  I will allow students to complete this over the weekend and get their stamps Monday).

Thursday 8/23
  • Students worked on the Just the Facts 2.4 sheet (we skip Chapter 1 and the first few sections of Chapter 2).  Today students were required to do only questions 1-8 and the first graphic organizer on the back.  We will complete this sheet in class tomorrow.
  • We also watched the 2nd segment of "Rebels".
  • Check Parent Portal in the afternoon for updated grades.
 
 
Wednesday 8/22
  • We discussed the results of the Lunchroom Fight suspension notice
  • Students turned in a packet consisting of 4 papers from the last week.  Grades should be updated in a couple of days.
  • We watched the first segment of "Rebels".  This is an episode from "The Story of US".  We will watch portions of this video over the next few days.

Tuesday 8/21
  • Students worked on and completed the Lunchroom Fight activity.  Check for the stamps on the white "suspension report" sheet.
 
 
Monday 8/20
 
  • Take home books were issued today.  Please let me know if your student did not bring home a history text book.
  • Those students who did not complete the Text Book Scavenger Hunt last week need to complete it at home.  They may bring it to me tomorrow (Tuesday) for stamping.
  • We watched two short videos on why we study history and government.
  • Hopefully we started an activity on reliable sources called "Lunch Room Fight".
 
 
 
Friday 8/17
  • New seating chart
  • Discussed stamping system
  • Student should have completed the Book Scavenger Hunt sheet.  Check to see if your student has two star-shaped stamps in the upper right corner.  Note:  Students who did not finish this assignment will be given a few minutes on Monday to finish.

  • We continued discussing class expectations/requirements and took care of other important business.
