SLED Summer Boot Camp

August 7th-10th

From August 7th - 10th, 25 NMS students met with a team of expert trainers from iSchool and the SLED advisor.  Students participated in workshops to develop their leadership, public speaking, and problem solving skills.  They met with school administrators to discuss changes that they would like to see at NMS. They split into groups and selected the first round of projects to work on.  Students will now work on these projects throughout the year in the Leadership Elective (for those enrolled) and during before school meetings (2/month). Students also led the entire Norris School District Staff in an “Escape the Conference” activity.

If your actions inspire others to dream more,
learn more, do more, and become more,
you are a leader.
~John Quincy Adams
Leadership is a semester long elective at Norris Middle School. Our class is guided by the book 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. The students learn how to become a leader by exhibiting positive character traits. They also learn games and activities that will help them lead other groups.  The leadership class also supports Norris Middle School activities and school spirit.
