Understanding History to create a better tomorrow
Welcome 7th & 8th Graders,
How can we move forward if we don’t know where we came from? What is this social experiment called The United States of America? I look forward to you joining me as we take a look back in U.S. history as the birth of a nation struggles to find independence, to our own internal conflict during our own civil war and how as a people we worked together to rebuild this proud country of ours. History is not just names and dates but a spring of information that includes music and art, religion and philosophy, and literature and poetry. We are in a living history that not only defines our country but also translates to how each and everyone of us live our daily lives from the technology that entertains us to the opportunity we have to chase our dreams. History gives us the clues to a better tomorrow and a better life for everyone, so be prepared to share your opinion, prepare a speech, work in groups and not be afraid to be yourself because this will be a journey of historical consequences. It is because of our American history that you have the greatest chance to be the best you can be in everything you do. So, buckle yourself in and be ready to transport in time as we follow the growth of our nation. With any luck, we all may have an opportunity to understand ourselves better.
