Hi families! My name is Ms. Moon and I’m thrilled to be teaching our Spanish Fundamentals Elective this school year.
I am very passionate about U.S. Americans learning a new language and expanding their horizons. To be able to understand Spanish and its many cultures is a wonderful way for Californians to connect with people in our own communities. Did you know that about 1/4 of Californians speak Spanish? This is why Spanish is no longer considered a “foreign language” and rather called a “world language” in California education.
A little background on myself: I grew up in Tehachapi, California, and started learning Spanish in High School Spanish class. After High School I attended Sonoma State University where I got my BA in Spanish, and a BA in Political Science. I spent my third year of college abroad in Granada, Spain where I attended 'La Universidad de Granada.' I completed the majority of my Spanish coursework there and had the time of my life living abroad. In Spain is where I grew exponentially both as a young adult and in my Spanish language acquisition.
Years later, I am now earning my Teaching Credential in Spanish. I spent the last year as a Long Term Substitute in High School Spanish 2 & 3 but am happy to be back to the basics at the Middle School level this year.
I am so excited to guide our students through this exploratory and enriching semester-long course. Please contact me if you need anything or would like to chat!
